LoHi Athletic Club Sneaker Drive
Did You Know?
Most people throw away their used sneakers every 125-200 days without ever thinking about recycling. Distance runners and cardio athletes may replace their shoes even more frequently! Since sneakers are manufactured with materials that are not biodegradable, they remain in landfills or are incinerated, which leads to toxic chemicals in our air and soil.
The process of manufacturing sneakers produces large amounts of CO2 which contributes to the serious effects of climate change and global warming.
How Can We Help Reduce Our Environmental Impact?

Recycling and reusing sneakers keeps sneakers out of landfills, reduces the need for manufacturing new shoes and sneakers, and supports a growing circular economy.
As a community focused gym that loves Colorado, we believe we have a Corporate Social Responsibility to our members, our neighborhood, our state, and our world to help keep it a beautiful place to live, and do what we can to reduce the environmental impact of society.
To do our part, we’ve partnered with GotSneakers, and are running a shoe drive to recycle and reuse quality pre-owned sneakers. All sneakers from our sneaker drive will be recirculated to people who want quality, reusable footwear at affordable prices or repurposed into new surfaces such as playgrounds and tracks.

Spring Cleaning (Your Closet)
We’d like to encourage our community to participate by bringing in their old running shoes and sneakers for donation. If you, your friends, or your running club have old shoes you don’t wear, but haven’t gotten rid of yet, bring them down to help contribute to the cause. We’ll have a bin for all your old athletic shoes, and if you sign up when you drop them off you’ll be entered to win one of five $20 gift cards to Little Man Ice Cream! Ask at the counter for further details, thanks for helping keep Colorado beautiful!
